Summer Trends for your Tresses

It's summertime, and true to your nature you are a chameleon with the seasons, always one to go lighter in the summertime and darker for fall. This summer has you looking for something a bit different. According to George Papanikolas, celebrity colorist at Andy Lecompte Salon, the hot new trend for summer is highlighting just the tips of the hair.

He created this summer haircolor for Mila Kunis. Staying with Mila's natural base color, Papanikolas hand painted on highlights using the Balayage technique to only the tips of her hair. Balayage is the free-handed hair coloring originating in Paris in the 1970s and truly is an art form, which George has mastered. By highlighting just the ends of the hair, the final look is an amped up version of one's hair being sun-kissed by the sun. It's an easy trend to maintain and fairly commitment free. Once the highlights have grown out one can cut off the ends or just reapply the highlights.

George is a much sought after colorist in Hollywood where he has mastered the art of creating natural-looking, sun-kissed color. His signature highlighting style is seen on many of Hollywood's hot, young royalty. He recently returned from the Britney Spears Circus Tour, where he was key stylist setting the look for the tour. Over the years, he has become a staple, key stylist at many runway shows for New York Fashion Week. After growing his career at some of Beverly Hills' top salons including John Fridea Salon and Chris McMillan Salon, George has found a new home at the hot new Andy Lecompte salon in West Hollywood.

My mom has never let me color my hair, even now when I'm 28!

Ooooh loverly...

She makes it look like its supposed to be that. Which, of course, it is. I'm sure I'd just look like my regrowth had gotten way out of control!! Which reminds me, my roots need doing....

Happy SITS day

Highlighting just the tips looks nice. I have silver highlights as I keep getting more and more gray hairs!

Happy SITS Day!

Hi www.greedygirlsguide.com checking in from SITS

It's funny I think walking around with two toned need a touch-up hair has become as common place as the coloroed hair it's self.

It seems so ok to see black roots with golden tresses

I'm 40 and I dyed my hair for the first time a few months after turning it. The gray's were starting to shine through.

Oh boy! You remind me of all the things I need to do to my hair!

hmmm....I don't know about this one. Mila just looks like she is way over due for a root touch-up

I like the concept so much I would have had by hair stylist do that for me. I see how much easier it is to maintain, BUT on my last visit I chopped all my hair off-even easier!

Well, she looks beautiful, of course. I, on the other hand, do not recall the last time I cut my hair. Kids have not been good for my "look."

Happy SITS day!

Happy SITS day! Love her hair, I could never pull that off and already do the highlight thing, speaking of which I am rocking my roots right now. It is not a pretty sight, I almost look like I am trying to pull of this look! :)

Last year was the first time ever I've colored my hair & I'm 46.

If only I had known my out grown (way out grown) highlights is the hot new style the season! I just barely colored all my hair so I wouldn't have them. Darn!
Happy SITS day!

I'm going to share this blog with may daughter. She will love it (I think it's great too)! Happy SITS day!

The tips are trendy! That's what my stylist did in July. Unfortunately all my highlights came off when I chopped off my hair. So much for that investment!

Happy SITS!

Not a style I would choose, but I was always rather dramatic with the highlighting back when I still did it.

Can I be honest...? It kind of looks like she had highlights but they grew out. She is a very pretty girl though!

Sometimes highlights done at the end of the hair can look tacky but those highlights look great on her.

I've been letting my highlights grow out for the past 6 months, who knew it was "in".

Your blog is making me feel old and boring, LOL!

I have had my hair colored and highlighted a lot but in the past few years I have come to realize I really prefer my natural hair color over anything else. I know I am in the minority but I would like to think of myself as blessed???

Mariel said...

I like. Blends in well and no roots!

Now if I could just have hair & a body like her that would do it! :) Cool info though! enjoy your day in the SITS spotlight.

Happy Sits Day.

I've been contemplating hair color for several years now. I haven't decided if I should do it again or not. It seems too toxic. BUT..... if I can get around putting it on my scalp and being exposed to it for only a short time. THEN MAYBE!!

Thanks for the tips. Pun not intended.
