Fashionable Night with Gypsy 05 + Nana Bijou Jewelry + SixHundred

{Upstairs at Fashion Los Angeles Headquarters}

I am sooo far behind on my updates here. To say my life has been a bit crazy would be an understatement. Last week I was invited to attend Fashion Los Angeles' Blogger's Cafe event. I've posted about Fashion Los Angeles and all they are doing to create the new LA Fashion Week starting next Feburary. The event was held at their headquarters and showcased collections from Gypsy 05 and Nana Bijou Jewelry.

{Gypsy 05 Tunic}

Gypsy 05 is an LA based eco clothing line that most likely you have seen on various Hollywood starlets in the gossip rags. They have a great line of comfortably chic maxi dress, tunics and jumpsuits. I loved their resort line. Amazing pieces.

{Nana Bijou Jewelry}

I met Natalie, designer of Nana Bijou Jewelry at the Fashion Los Angeles groundbreaking ceremony a few weeks ago. She was an absolute doll. I was excited that she was one of the featured designers at the blogger's cafe. Her jewelry collection was stunning. Everyone was having fun trying on her pieces and playing dress-up. She is one to watch.

After getting some hands-on with the designers upstairs, we moved downstairs to check out the pop-up shop, SixHundred LA. It was a fun night of fashion.

Fashionable Friday Love

I was pleasantly surprised when I was contacted this week by Lady Cameron of Midnight In a Perfect World, asking if she could feature me today. I still am constantly amazed that anything I say and do is of interest to others! So of course I said yes. You can check it out here.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I know I am going to enjoy this sunny, warm weather by the beach this weekend.

Designer Spotlight: Camille K Jewelry

{Laurie, Camille, Carla & Me}

I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing jewelry designer Carla Labat of Camille K. Fellow stylist and my darling friend Laurie Brucker joined me as we styled and played with the shiny, sparkly baubles while learning the background of this amazing jewelry line. Couture, vintage, one-of-a-kind, statement pieces, oh and did I mention Chanel?...the collection is truly amazing. Carla was so much fun to interview and we even meet her muse, her beautiful daughter Camille.

Check out our videos below to see more of our fun day. For more information visit Camille K.

We love The Contact List for introducing us to Carla and Camille!

Burberry Spring 2011 - Instant Gratification

{BurberryProrsum Spring 2011 - PC Style.com}

I'm an instant gratification girl...and I love how some of my favorite brands are addressing this topic. Last night I was invited to visit the Burberry store in Beverly Hills for a private event. It was one of 25 Burberry stores around the world that showed select customers the recent Spring 2011 runway show from London Fashion Week. Before the show started, there were never-before-seen interviews with Sarah Jessica Parker, Mario Testino, Serena Williams and Alexa Chung before they walked inside to claim their seats.

I'm sure you're all thinking big deal...streaming videos is common with runway shows nowadays. But Burberry took it one step further. Last night they created a special iPad app (only for in-store use) that allowed their invited guests to purchase select pieces straight from the runway. All of the orders placed will go directly into production with an expected delivery date of seven weeks. Amazing, getting pieces of Burberry's Spring 2011 collection before Thanksgiving...long before they would be delivered to stores starting in December. It's instant gratification at its best.

If you weren't lucky enough to be invited to one of their stores last night, you can recreate the experience in the comfort of your own home minus the passed nibbles and drinks. Visit the Burberry website to watch the show and order select pieces before September 28.

Dying over the long motorcycle jacket...I so need it in my closet!
{Burberry Prorsum Spring 2011}

And the show...where to even begin. I've said it before, Burberry is no longer just your mother's brand anymore thanks to Christopher Bailey. He has brought a new edginess to the brand that works beautifully. There were fun bright colors, animal prints, studs and leather shown on the runway. The collection is right up my alley and I can't wait to see the entire line when it's delivered to stores.

La Mer Regenerating Serum, A New Love

It comes as no surprise that I am a devoted La Mer girl when it comes to skincare. As most of you know, I fell in love with the line over five years ago while traveling and have not looked back since. When I learned La Mer recently introduced a new Regenerating Serum to their line I was intrigued and had to check it out. Especially with the promise that ones skin will look rejuvenated in a day, and over time wrinkles and pores will be diminished for an overall ageless look.

The past few weeks my life has been extra crazy so it was a perfect time to see if the La Mer serum lived up to its promises. When my life gets crazy it shows in my skin. After two days of using the serum in my morning and evening cleansing routine I noticed a pretty substantial difference. My skin looked looked smooth and flawless. That was not something I was expecting to happen, especially with all of the craziness happening in my life. I've continued using the serum and I love the results.

It took La Mer over four years and hundreds of hours in the lab to create the ultra-luxe Regenerating Serum. I have to agree it was time well spent!

For more information or to purchase your own serum, visit the La Mer website.

(La Mer sent a sample of the Regenerating Serum for my review)

Fashion Los Angeles - The Future of LA Fashion

Last week I met with Michael Venedicto, CEO of Fashion Los Angeles to learn more about the organization. Fashion Los Angeles is looking to be the new platform in everything fashion for Los Angeles. They are taking on the large task of streamlining LA's current fashion week(s) and presenting a united front at one central location in downtown LA. Currently LA Fashion Week (LAFW) is in reality a month long with events spread all throughout LA. Each event is produced by a different organization claiming to be "the official leader" for LAFW. As someone who has had to travel all over for LAFW, I am excited for the possibility of staying in one place to see all of the fashion shows.

Fashion Los Angeles has taken on a large task and I am very excited to see what happens next February when they launch the first LAFW under their umbrella. But two weeks of runway shows (one in the spring and fall) is not were Fashion Los Angeles is stopping...no, that is just where they are starting. They plan to merge media, technology, design, beauty and of course fashion into various programs and events all year long to boost the Los Angeles fashion community as the world takes notice.

I know I am excited for the future of fashion in Los Angeles. For more information, visit Fashion Los Angeles' website www.fashionlosangeles.org.

Meet Michael Venedicto and see what he as to say about Fashion Los Angeles in the video below.

Fashionable in Rainy Chicago

{Myself & Whitney in Chicago}

I traveled to my hometown of Chicago last week. It was great seeing family and just taking a much needed break from the craziness of my fabulous life. While I was away I managed to check out from work and disconnect for a bit. I did get a chance to meet up with Whitney from Fauxshionable.com and finally meet in person.

{dress: Elizabeth & James, shoes: Miu Miu, clutch: Prada}

She's was an absolute doll as I expected. We bonded over fashion, our Midwestern backgrounds and just general girl talk. Of course the one evening we decided to meet up had to be pouring rain. Thankfully there was a Burberry close by to help me stay stylish in the rain! Some of you may think I'm crazy for spending money on a Burberry umbrella, but let me tell you they are the best you can buy. They never flip inside-out in the wind and I've been in some windy, rainy situations!

{Umbrella that fits both of us}

Go check out Whitney's site...she so is so creative with her outfit posts and I think we will be seeing a lot more of her in this industry! Looking forward to having her out here on the West Coast sometime!

A Fashionable Day: Burberry, Vintage & Art

The past few weeks have been so crazy busy for me and I know I have been a bit MIA from here. I am attempting to get caught up and share all of the fabulous happenings with you all.

A few weeks ago I was invited to a private viewing of the Burberry 2010 Fall Collection at the Beverly Hills store. It was an amazing event and the highlight was meeting Christopher Bailey in person. Then it was off for a fun lunch with my girls, Laurie and Wendy. There was so much laughing at lunch, I wish we could do it all the time! To read more details of my Burberry experience, click here.
{Laurie and I in front of Burberry}

After lunch it was off to do some more shopping! The next stop of the day was to check out ANAMU's fall trunk show at 3020 Resale in LA. ANAMU, creates amazing clutches and jewelry from vintage scarves and fabrics. I met Ana Maria last year at a fashion event and immediately fell in love with her clutch she was wearing only to find out she was the designer. In theory I love vintage, but I'm not one to go digging through piles of clothes to find that hidden gem. I'm more comfortable shopping for vintage once it's been picked through and displayed for easier shopping. 3020 Resale did just that, and I've found a new place to hunt for fabulous vintage finds. The trunk show was amazing and I'm so excited to see the next collection Ana Maria creates.

{Ana Maria and Laurie at the trunk show}

While at the trunk show, I started chatting with a fun gentleman who was non other than Paul Sorvino. He had all sorts of stories and definitely livened up the event. After chatting for a bit I soon learned he had a studio across the way with some of his bronze sculptures. He offered to show them to myself and some of the others in his studio. I was intrigued and was blown away with his work. A true Renaissance man.

From meeting Christopher Bailey, shopping and then a surprise encounter with Paul Sorvino...it turned out to be one of those extraordinary days.

Movado Watch LA Preview: Bold New Designs

Last week I was invited to preview the new Movado watch collections at the Beverly Hills Four Seasons. I am familiar with the classic Movado watch design, but haven't seen any of the other designs so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with the modern and updated look for the new collections. These are not just your parent's watches anymore!

{My favorite watch of the day, with an alligator strap and blue sapphires...what's not to like?}

One of the first lines that caught my eye as I walked into the private event was the Bold collection. It is one of Movado's newer lines, which just launched last year. The collection is based on the famous Movado design but has the appeal of a modern, sporty wristwatch. It's one that would be easy to wear on a daily basis.

{Some of the color options from Movado's Bold Collection}

As I was viewing the other collections, some of the watches had genuine ostrich and alligator wristbands. Usually I lean towards bracelet wristbands, but I’ve broadened my options after seeing some of the Movado collections using exotic skins. I loved what I saw.

In addition to the Movado collections, there were Concord and ESQ watches to view as well. There was something for everyone in all the lines, from elegant and classic to modern and bold.

My Summer Beauty Product Favorites

I love beauty products and am always on the hunt for new favorites. I thought I would open my beauty cabinet with you all, and share some of my new summer loves.

As most of you know, I love La Mer products as I've mentioned in prior posts. I started using the line a few years ago when my husband and I traveled around the world. I was desperate to figure out how I was going to bring enough beauty products with me until I realized La Mer was sold in most of the airport duty-free shops. My problem was solved and I fell in love with an amazing product line. My new favorite is the La Mer SPF 18 Fluid Tint. It's a combination of La Mer's moisturizing skincare with a subtle tint and sunscreen. I love how it feels on my skin. It's light and perfect for summer giving your skin a sun-kissed glow all while protecting against harmful rays from the sun. My skin looks so luminous like I just came from a facial. I'll share more products I love from La Mer in the future.

I was excited when I learned earlier this year, that Karen Robinovitz started a beauty line called Purple Lab. She has been a fashion insider for many years and I have always admired her from afar. I checked out the line as soon as it was available. One of my favorite products are the lip glosses with lip plumper. With the title of "Huge Lips Skinny Hips" how can you not love them immediately? Imagine my utter glee when I realized quite by accident that my favorite color out of all eight shades is called "Red Sole," how appropriate! The reason I love these glosses is that even though they are a lip plumper it doesn't feel like your lips are being stung by thirty bees at the same time, just a slight tingle when you first apply. The gloss goes on very sheer, like you just bit down on your lip for a little color. I have always been a lip-gloss girl. I love the natural and minimal look that is achieved with glosses. I never leave home without my Red Sole gloss, as it has become a staple in my make-up bag.

How can we talk about beauty products and not mention hair care? I recently was introduced to Oribe hair products, a collection of Paraben-free shampoos and conditioners tailored for all hair needs, from my colorist. I’m always open to try new products but I usually go back to my favorites. After trying Oribe I’m a new convert. I love how my hair looks and feels after I use the products. I have very fine hair but a lot of it and after using these products my hair is smooth and shiny. Perfect for summer.

Hope you enjoyed me sharing some of my current beauty favorites.

{As you know me by now, I don't share anything with you I don't love. All of the above reviews are based on my experiences with the products. La Mer sent me the Fluid Tint to review and the other products are ones I have purchased on my own with no compensation by the companies.}

Fresh Designs at the Designer Launchpad Runway Show

{PC - Kerryn Leigh}

I was invited to see the Designer Launchpad fashion show at the California Market Center (CMC) during the last market week. These shows are a great way to see new up-and-coming designers and their collections. This show was busier than the previous one I attended during the last LA Fashion Week. Unfortunately, I missed half of the show due to traffic for the Lakers but was able to view the collections up close after the show.

My favorite line from the show was Kerryn Leigh. It consisted of great basic pieces that can be mixed and matched for numerous looks. The philosophy behind the line was to create wardrobe classics that live beyond trends and seasons. The pieces were so soft to touch and felt like a soft hug against your skin. This line is one that I could see making its way into my closet.

While walking among the booths after the show, I ran into Alexana from Dollimou who showed her collection at the last Designer Launchpad. She's an absolute doll in person and since I was there, she showed me what was coming in her next few collections. I love her line as it's perfect "beach chic" and am very excited for her holiday collection.

I am looking forward to seeing the next batch of new-comers CMC showcases in its next Designer Launchpad.

LOFT Style in the Penthouse - LOFT 2010 Fall Collection

{PC - Daily Front Row}

The new LOFT Fall 2010 Collection was presented at the Chateau Marmont yesterday in a chic, intimate event for fashion industry insiders. Walking through the front door into the penthouse took my breath away. The suite was styled as a modern Parisian apartment complete with pink peonies and Diptyque candles everywhere, two of my favorites. Models dressed and styled in the collection lounged throughout the suite and patio as the stylish guests mingled around. Outside on the patio, guests nibbled on mushroom truffle tarts, spring rolls and mini cupcakes while overlooking the beautiful LA skyline at sunset.

{Pink peonies and Diptyque candles}

{Models in the "dining room"}

I wasn't sure what to expect with the collection, as I always associated it before as "older women" clothing. Last night that perception officially changed. Over-the-knee riding boots, faux-fur vests and tweed mini-skirts are just some of the things to expect this fall from LOFT, all at reasonable prices. The collection was amazing, with pieces that will be sure to find their way into my closet come fall.

The event was beautifully done with no detail missed. The venue, fashionable guests, and the breathtaking view all contributed to an amazing event, but the star of the evening was the new Fall 2010 LOFT collection.

White+Warren Maxi Skirt - 1 Skirt, 5 Outfits

We all do it from time to time...we buy something and think it can only be worn one way. I was so excited when I received the maxi skirt from White+Warren because I knew this was a basic closet wardrobe piece that would create many outfits. Kinect for Xbox 360 - Next Frontier of Gaming

As I mentioned before, this last weekend was all about technology and the amazing things being created. After a wonderful day at Fashion Camp LA, I headed downtown with my husband to check out Kinect for Xbox 360 at a private VIP event. The event was held in the Penthouse at Loft 7 in downtown Los Angeles. The space was unbelievable. Throughout the 16,000 sq. ft. space Xbox had nine gaming stations set up so guests could experience and play with the Kinect for Xbox 360 as they were mingling.

Kinect for Xbox 360 is Microsoft's latest edition, where you are the controller. With Kinect's sensor it translates your body's movements to play the game. There are no straps or controllers, just you and your body movements are all you need to feel like you are rafting down a river or jumping over hurdles. Imagine how a small child mimics driving a car with their two hands on an imaginary steering wheel. The thing is...that is how you control the race car game! You and your imaginary steering wheel controlling your race car on screen.

{Guests playing the race car game}

I was so amazed by the by this latest edition for Xbox 360...I have to have one of my own. It brings gaming to a whole new level.

Technology and Fashion - Such a Stylish Pair at Fashion Camp LA

{Sample of a chip that will be sewn into clothing for wearable technology}

This weekend was all about new technology and the future. I attended Fashion Camp LA, a one-day seminar highlighting the impact of technology on fashion. To say I was blown away with where the future of fashion is heading would be an understatement.

Warbasse Design was the first speaker to talk about QR codes, which I'm obsessed with...I want one of my own. QR codes are bar codes that companies place into printed materials (business cards, ads, window displays, etc.) that look similar to the image below. People then scan the QR code with their smart phone (after downloading a free app) and the code will bring them to a specific url created by the company. The purpose is for the company to create specialized information for the user using the QR code, such as special discounts, new videos, personalized text messages and more.
{QR Code}

Zugara talked about Augmented Reality and how to utilize it to bring a more engaging experience for a company's clients. Wearable technology was discussed and how one day people will be able to print their clothes and shoes in the comfort of their own home. Not sure how I feel about this, as I love the whole shopping experience but it was amazing non-the-less.

Digital lookbooks to better promote ones products and services was presented by Clashe.com. PR Couture offered fashion advice that was extremely helpful. Lisa Borodkin, a fashion attorney, finished the day with valuable legal advice for the fashion industry. It was a wonderful and very informative event.

The event was put on by Macala Wright Lee, founder of Fashionably Marketing.Me with sponsorships from Mashable, XCVI and BurdaStyle. If you missed this event and didn't get to watch the live streaming video make sure to check it out when it comes back in the fall.
